Over a Kotaku.com they have a new video of the Gears of War 2 Multiplayer rundown. The video shows off some cool new maps, weapons, and excusions that will be in GoW2 Multiplayer. I have put the video below, check it out and enjoy.
Over at Engadget they have an article about AMD’s Cinema 2.0 demo and I have to say I am pretty impress with what AMD showed off yesterday. The cool thing about the demo is that it was using a future AMD RV770 graphics card, with a Phenom Quad-Core 9850 CPU and an AMD 790FX Chipset motherboard. Check out the link below for full video of the demo.
As many of you know NVIDIA released two new graphic chips today, the Geforce GTX 280 and the Geforce GTX 260. I could go down the technical review road but lets be honest, there are plenty of better technical reviews out there if you want to read them, I have put two of my favorites below:
Now, while I have always been an AMD and NVIDIA fan boy (and still am), these new chips have me shaken my head. Don’t get me wrong I love pure high performance computing power, but the fact that these new Geforce GTX 280 use 236 watt a pieace and that each card is going to set you back $650 is totally insane. That means a to put these chips in a Tri SLI system will cost you $1950 before tax and consume a staggering 708 watts. The only people I can see buying these cards are gamers who are trying to make up for something, if you catch my drift. In my opinion if I was building a system, I would get two NVIDIA 8800GT cards with 512MB of memory each, set them up in an Dual SLI mode, and I would of spent about half the price of what one of these cards costs and I would be getting about the same amount of performance. Then I could take all the money I saved and actually go by games, and play them.
Maybe I am off basis here, but I think NVIDIA is struggling to come up with something that is actually innovative anymore. Sure they recently came out with the whole Hybrid SLI and Geforce Boost, but honestly what good is that going to do me, and they are not even promoting that feature with these cards. I don’t know, but to me it is like NVIDIA is trying to sell a V12 Hummer when gas is $6 a gallon. Let me know your thoughts on the new chips and NVIDIA.
Well I had planned on working on the re-launch of 2guysandablog.com this weekend, but unfortunately I got a sinus infection, so that won’t be happening. I hope to work on it some this week, so check back for more updates.
